Info

After six years as a PhD student in the Computer Science Department at the University of Washington, I have finally finished. I just finished a postdoctoral research fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University with the ALADDIN Center. Now I am a researcher at Microsoft Research's Silicon Valley Lab. I no longer maintain this web page. Please see my Microsoft Research homepage.

Research Interests

The main focus of my research is on economic aspects of algorithms. In particular, I consider optimization problems when the input is private information of selfish agents that may incorrectly report in order to manipulate the outcome. This economic and game theoretic twist is exemplified in its most basic form in auction mechanisms. (more)

Slapshot!

Recreational Interests

I play a number of sports including ice hockey, soccer, ultimate, and volleyball. In the winter I enjoy both alpine and telemark skiing.

I also do various forms of social dancing including lindy hop. At dance clubs I prefer 80s, brit. pop, and industrial. I like photography and fashion.
